AlZaytona University Hosts Minister of Higher Education and Reviews Development Plans

AlZaytona University of Science and Technology in Salfit Governorate welcomed Prof. Amjad Barham, Minister of Education and Higher Education, on a visit during which he was briefed on the university’s development and academic plans aimed at enhancing the quality of higher education and ensuring the graduation of qualified professionals capable of meeting the needs of the local and regional labor markets.

The visit was attended by Dr. Nafe’ Assaf, Undersecretary of Education, Mr. Mahmoud Saleh, Deputy Governor of Salfit, Dr. Muammer Shteiwi, Chairman of the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education Institutions, Mr. Mousa Al-Jubah, Chairman of the University Board of Directors, Prof. Dawoud Al-Zaatari, President of the University, Mr. Abdel Sattar Awad, Secretary of the Fatah Movement in Salfit, Mr. Abdel Karim Zubaidi, Mayor of Salfit, Mr. Samir Tanah, Director General of the Minister’s Office, Mr. Mohammad Al-Aqra’, Director General of Education, Eng. Eyad Abu Samra, Director of Quality Assurance, in addition to a large number of students and academic and administrative staff.

In his welcoming address, the university president conveyed the greetings of the AlZaytona community, praising the continued support from the ministry, the governorate, and the municipality. He provided a comprehensive overview of the university’s establishment, its strategic development plans, and its distinguished academic programs, which aim to consolidate the university’s position as a leading academic institution nationally and internationally.

Minister Barham expressed his appreciation for the university’s progress in a short period, conveying greetings from Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa. He emphasized the importance of education as a supreme national value, highlighted the challenges facing Palestinian education under occupation—particularly in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem—and stressed that investing in education is a cornerstone of resilience and nation-building.

Deputy Governor Mahmoud Saleh, speaking on behalf of Governor Mustafa Taqatqa, noted that AlZaytona University has become a promising educational beacon in the governorate, praising its role in human development and community partnership despite difficult circumstances.

Mr. Mousa Al-Jubah, Chairman of the Board, emphasized the importance of cooperation between official institutions and higher education institutions, calling for integrated efforts to support education and graduate youth capable of contributing to development.

The Mayor of Salfit also affirmed the municipality’s commitment to supporting the university by improving surrounding infrastructure, including the expansion of access roads, while emphasizing the importance of strengthening its academic presence as a strategic national institution.

At the conclusion of the visit, Prof. Dawoud Al-Zaatari, President of the University, Mr. Mousa Al-Jubah, Chairman of the Board, and board members honored Minister Prof. Amjad Barham in recognition of his efforts in supporting the higher education sector. Honors were also presented to Deputy Governor Mahmoud Saleh, Fatah Secretary Abdel Sattar Awad, and Dr. Muammer Shteiwi, Chairman of the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality, in appreciation of their support for the university and the development of education in the governorate.
