Overview
This program is being offered for the first time at Palestinian universities and awards a Bachelor’s degree upon completion of 158 credit hours. The specialization comprises a set of engineering courses related to energy, renewable energy, and the environment.
The program focuses on providing a comprehensive engineering education in the generation of renewable and sustainable energy from sources such as solar, wind, bioenergy, geothermal, and tidal power. It aims to equip students with the latest skills needed to design all types of renewable energy systems—solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal—across all scales, including small, medium, and high-capacity systems.
Through the available courses and specialized energy laboratories, students will be able to analyze various energy systems, compare their efficiencies, and produce engineering designs and environmental reports for diverse energy projects. Additionally, graduates will be prepared to contribute to addressing global climate challenges, becoming part of the worldwide effort to tackle global warming and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The program also emphasizes developing a specialized team with strong research and technological skills to keep pace with global scientific and technological advancements in this field.
Vision and Mission
Establishing an engineering and academic department in a modern and strategic discipline aimed at supporting the global movement to protect the environment and reduce pollution and global warming by producing energy in its various forms from clean, renewable, and sustainable sources. The department also seeks to support the local economy and enhance energy independence through the use of alternative sources that preserve the environment while providing a continuous economic resource.
In addition, it aims to offer engineering education that keeps pace with advancements in the field of renewable and sustainable energy generation from solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and wave energy. Graduating engineers will be equipped to develop and apply modern technologies in renewable energy to replace fossil fuels. The department will also prepare researchers to conduct high-level studies to keep up with scientific and technological progress in this advanced field of knowledge.
