Salfit Municipality and Al-Zaytouna University for Science and Technology Sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Establish the City’s First Vehicle Inspection Center
Salfit Municipality, represented by its Mayor, Mr. Abdul Karim Al-Zubaidi, and Al-Zaytouna University for Science and Technology, represented by its President, Professor Dr. Daoud Al-Zaatari, signed a strategic memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a specialized vehicle inspection center within the city limits of Salfit. This pioneering step reflects the integration of roles between academic institutions and local authorities to serve the community and enhance road safety.
The agreement stems from Salfit Municipality’s belief in the necessity of developing services provided to citizens in the areas of transportation and road safety, and Al-Zaytouna University’s commitment to supporting applied scientific research in the fields of mechanical engineering and technology. Both parties agreed to combine their efforts to establish an advanced center that provides high-quality technical services and opens opportunities for university students to train and conduct applied scientific research.
The center will provide vehicle inspection services according to the technical and legal standards adopted in Palestine. Part of its operations will be dedicated to training engineering students and conducting joint scientific studies to develop inspection, diagnostic, and maintenance methods, thereby enhancing the ability of local institutions to reduce accidents and improve road safety levels. The municipality will also work to complete all licensing procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities, primarily the Ministry of Transport and Communications, to ensure the center’s compliance with applicable vehicle inspection regulations.
At the conclusion of the signing, both parties affirmed that this partnership represents a successful model of integrated roles between the local government sector and the academic sector, directly impacting the quality of services provided to citizens and opening new horizons for students to bridge theory and practice within a technologically advanced environment that serves the city and the region as a whole.
